Notre Dame

the cathedral showing the flying buttress construction

Notre Dame Cathedral, in Paris, was begun in 1163 and completed for the most part in 1250. It is one of the best-known Gothic cathedrals in the world.  Although Notre Dame is considered a Gothic structure, it incorporates remnants of the earlier Romanesque style.
