Sri Lanka
tea plantation
Tea plantations, such as the one shown here, produce about a quarter of Sri Lanka’s export earnings. Tea, rubber, and coconut exports dominate commercial activity in the country. During the 1970s, the Sri Lankan government sought to control most of the business associated with these goods, but it since has relaxed those measures in hopes of encouraging private foreign investment in its economy.
