Hearst San Simeon State Historical Monument, nestled in the wooded hills overlooking the Pacific, midway between San Francisco and Los Angeles, preserves the lavish residence and estate of the former journalist and publisher William Randolph Hearst.
William Randolph Hearst, American publisher and political figure,
founded the largest chain of newspapers in the United States. Hearst invested
much of the earnings from his newspaper empire in the estate he called Enchanted
Hill.
Today, his estate is called Hearst San Simeon State Historic Monument, and visitors can admire Hearst's collection of ancient art, a Roman temple, and various beautiful pools including the Neptune Pool.

He also collected art for his vast estate at San Simeon,
California, which included a zoo, an airport, a private theater, and guest
houses that are reassembled French châteaus.
